After releasing their 3rd studio album, “Damn the Torpedoes,” Tom Petty
and the Heartbreakers went out on a world tour, and followed their success in the
studio with success on stage. They were quickly establishing themselves as one of the best live bands!

On this broadcast of Live in Concert, we’ll listen to a concert from the “Damn the Torpedoes” tour. The tour lasted just about a full calendar year- it launched on Monday, July 23, 1979 in Salinas, California, and wrapped up on Sunday, July 20, 1980 in Orlando, Florida.

In between those dates were incredible live performances all over the U-S, Europe, Asia, and Australia. We'll listen to a legendary performance captured live in the middle of the tour, on December 6, 1979, at the Houston Music Hall in Houston, Texas.
